I had my phone laying on my desk today at work and while typing I noticed it being wobbly. It wasnt like that when I first got the phone.

I held my phone up lengthwise(end to end) to my eye, and sure enough there was a twist in the chassis.

I put it between my palms and gave a little opposite force to bend back. It didnt take that much surprisingly. Laid my phone on the table and it was dead solid again.

This is kind of worrying since I keep my phone in my front pocket or coat pocket all the time(unless Im sitting and its out on the table). Its not like I sat on it.

Twist test? That's a new one on me. How about a smashing against a rock test.

I did a clean up /reset
Let's keep it civil , it's Christmas!

Merry Christmas

Kinda sorry I missed it. At least folks arent being as quiet as they once were when Apple fanboys come a trollin'

Merry Christmas!

I’m a but confused about how carrying a phone in one’s “coat pocket” twists it.

I'm not saying it got twisted from my coat pocket. I was making the point that I keep it in pockets where it shouldn't get bent. That it got twisted from some other way. And that's what took me to this question: is it easily twisted.

The front pocket of a pair of jeans could definitely apply torsional force to a phone, especially while sitting... I wonder if the Pixel 6 back design and non-glued display would make it more susceptible to twisting...

I think adding a torsional stress test to the Jerry rig everything gamut isn't a bad idea.

Agreed

Probably an obvious question, but the phone isn't in a case, right?

My front pocket puts enough force on my pixel 3XL that it pops the bottom left corner of the case off... the case is warped because of it, and I'm going to check if my phones twisted at all. My other case doesn't seem to fit quite right either. I did a quick check of the phone at one point, and it seemed fine, but now I'm curious enough that I may give it a more thorough look over. The phone looks and works perfectly though, so any possible twisting hasn't affected the functionality.

There were issues with the pixel 4a's twisting as well I believe, but of course they were plastic, and no one reported any functional problems because of it. Someone should suggest to Zach from JerryRigEverything to incorporate a twist test, that could be a very valid test ;)

The reason I picked up a Z Flip 3, instead of a pixel 6, was me being tired of having a pocket tightly stretched because of having a big phone in it... sounds like maybe it's not doing the phones any favors either

I should reiterate, I don't sit down with my phone in my front pocket. When I get ready to sit down I take it out and place it on my desk. This is predominantly at work and I'm wearing dress pants. Pretty much all other times, not at work, it's in my coat pocket. I don't put it in my pocket when I wear jeans.

I have dropped the phone a number of times. With the case on of course. It's possible one of those drops caused the twist.

It does make you wonder just how easily a modern phone can be twisted. I know they make them very resistant to bending, but maybe they allow them a little "safety margin" for twisting? The guys with the 4a's that were twisting were just easily twisting them back like you did. I've heard of others doing the same thing... in fact I might end up doing that to my phone, although it would probably twist right back as soon as I put it in my pocket lol.

Ok, so does it still seem bent out of the case? I'm just wondering if it's a flaw with the case itself.
Yes, I took it out of the case and placed it on my desk and it still rocked corner to opposite corner. Twisted it back out of the case then tested again. When it was flat I put it back in the case. Case is TPU so it wouldn't have much of a memory other than what the phone inside does.

I'm finding out that twisting is a problem with the Pixel 6 pro. I just noticed it today on my lunch break. At first I thought it was because of my case.... but indeed it is my phone. I always put my phone in my back pocket with every phone I have and never had this issue. No, I don't wear tight skinny jeans. Just might have to get a metal case for it to solve the problem.

Thank you for not making me think I'm crazy lol
