P9 Cannot disable pin number

Hi all , I've had a Huawei P9 for a few weeks now and I love it but recently while installing the Android pay app it had asked me for a pin number. After a short while I had noticed the phone kept asking me for a pin code ( not SIM pin or SD card pin by the way) everytime after screen unlock or after turning it on. I've been into settings , been into various sections of the security features and I cannot see an option to turn the pin off at all. I've even googled it but cannot find a solution. Anyone else encounter this issue. #help

Is the phone encrypted? If the phone doesn't come encrypted by default (like the Nexus 6P, for example), and if you chose the option to encrypt it at some point, that usually makes a PIN or password mandatory.
