When I set up my new Google Pixel 8 Pro phone I put a fingerprint on which also asked me to enter a code. Sometimes after entering the fingerprint still prompts me for the code to unlock. I bought this phone mainly for the camera for when on holiday so I want to disable having to enter the pin each time to unlock whilst I am only using it at home as will use my old phone for general use.

I managed to remove the fingerprint but can't seem to remove the pin and asks me for it every time. Looking through forums it says to go into Settings->Security & Privancy->More Security & Privacy-> SIM Lock

So here I have SIM Lock setting and the slider for lock Sim is to the left in the Off Position yet still prompts for it.

So is it some other setting I have to go into so I don't have to enter the code every time to get into my phone

Thanks

Some users on Reddit have reported this issue with the 8 series after a recent update. Some say they couldn't fix it. Others say they have fixed it and offer suggestions to do so. You could try one of the suggestions found there.

You might also try this. To get to the other lock settings on your device, go to: Settings>Security & Privacy>Device Unlock>Fingerprint & Face Unlock and then double check to make sure that you have unregistered all of your old fingerprints and then re-register a few new fingerprints (more than one). Also make sure Unlock Your Phone Using Face and Fingerprint is on. Restart the device.

I believe that after a certain number of lock screen openings (not sure how many) with fingerprint or face you will have to use the pin again once (a security thing?) until the next time you are prompted to use the pin again. At least that is how mine works.

I don't believe that you can disable the pin lock and still use fingerprint or face unlock because you would need it if you encountered a glitch with either of them.

Thanks. Could not see any previous registered fingerprints. I added it back on again and noticed 'Unlock Your Phone Using Fingerprint ' was set to off. So have enabled that. Now the fingerprint seems to unlock the phone without also asking for the pin. Im happy with that as doesn't take too long to unlock that way.

Hopefully google will address the bug and have an update for it in the future

Many thanks
