padlock symbol on Nexus 7

Brand new today. When I tried to add an existing google email account there was no keyboard showing so I couldn't do that.

I did get it connected to wifi but now it went into sleep mode and I have a padlock on the screen and I can get no further.

Is there some sort of hard reset that will get me out of this?

keyboard doesn't show until you click in the text field.

drag the icon downward to unlock.

READ THE MANUAL (either online or in the Play Book application)

Moving the icon down got me back in. Thank you.

I think the frustrating part is you can't download the mannual
having a credit card attached to the Goole account for google pay. Once I found the manual in .pdf format things got a lot clearer faster the quick start does not contain enough information on how to enter an existing google account.
