Palm swipe to capture

This is odd. I have "Palm swipe to capture" turned on for screenshots. But nothing is happening when I do the palm swipe gesture. I've tried it numerous ways and it's just not working - nothing happens.

Is it possible that I have a setting turned on that could be interfering with the palm swipe gesture?

I'm no expert on palm swipe but it works for me and I do believe it's a technique thing. I swipe left to right with a good portion of side of my hands touching and starting almost to the edge. If I start too close to the edge it'll sometimes take me back rather than capture because I use gestures and while it is called palm I only use the side of my hand.

Have you ever used this feature on any other device and gotten it to work?

Not sure what the next step would be because I wouldn't imagine the feature being tied to the camera, so really only storage permission would be needed. That should also count out another app blocking it. Let us know what you find or if what I describe is how you're doing it and it's still not working, let us know that and more help will follow.

I've used it on a previous Galaxy device and it worked great. Technique is fine - I know how to do it, it's just simply not working. I'm wondering if I have a permission turned off that's preventing it from working (?)

I'm fairly sure it isn't related to the camera but you could try taking camera permission away from all apps and trying it. I've seen apps take over the camera and even though it isn't being used that app can prevent it from being used. Maybe something like that is happening and stopping the capture.

Settings>Apps>three dots upper corner Permission Manager>Camera> remove all apps from the list.

The next time they need permission they'll just ask like it's the first time using the app.

Screen capture doesn't use the camera in any way, though.

I know but that's the only permission I can think of where something else, I've seen in the past, could try and stop something like this.

Why not skip the swipe and just have Google Assistant do it? Should be as simple as, Ok google, take a screenshot.

Hmm just tried it works fine in S21 ultra. One thing palm swipe to screenshot from right to left is little tricky (may be because of edge panel) but from left to right I always have 100% success rate compared to right to left which sometimes have to do few times.

It's ACTING like it's taking a photo, but it's not actually taking a photo. The screen does a brief 'movement', as it should, as you graze your hand across, but no picture is taken.

Well, I'll be. I didn't know about the palm swipe thing until I read this thread just now. I had been using the side buttons - a little cumbersome but it worked. I just tried the palm swipe trick and it worked great the first time.

Was on the phone with Samsung Tech Support fr an hour ... no resolution ... all my settings/permissions are fine. Hardware or software issue. Considering asking for a replacement - it's a feature that should be working - no reason why it shouldn't be. I'm within the return/exchange window still. We'll see .....

Mine absolutely does not work either. What gives?

Wonder if having the Whitestone Dome glass installed has anything to do with it?

Think karate chop then swipe/slide across the screen.

For Samsung I use Good Lock and put the screenshot button on my navigation bar at the bottom. Lots of accidental screenshots but those can be deleted.

Easier to use the button than making Bruce Lee faces and looking like you will destroy the thousand dollar phone lol

Yeah, technique is fine ... I've used this feature without issues on previous Galaxy phones. It's just plain not working. And I don't have a screen protector.

For those not working, assuming you are using One UI and not a 3rd party launcher?
