Am I missing something with regards to our Google camera app?

Does it only allow you to shoot in portrait mode now?

I think that's how it's been for a while now. In my opinion, it allows for a better image ratio (i.e. since a panorama will likely be relatively wide, it's better to have the sides be the longer length of the screen, not the shorter).
