Partial root?

My optimus S has me confused as hell right now...

basically, i have the superuser app, but no root permissions to anything, cant root the phone, and cant unroot it... in adb, i cant even use the su command to change $ to #....

any suggestions?

What is the current version of your phone? VD, VC, or V9?

VD unfortunately. currently attempting to "downgrade" back to v9


i'm not used to this phone at all yet. I'm working on figuring it out though....

that is the thread i am using. unfortunately, a friend tried using z4root on it which did nothing but give me the superuser app, but i cant do anything with the phone... (its not bricked, just have no root access) so i'm starting from scratch

That's where you need to start. z4root will do nothing for you unless you are on V9.

it apparently installed superuser before... i got it figured out, now i'm running CM7 on it...

Pretty easy once you get the hang of it......(that is, of course, with everything provided for us! I sure as hell couldn't do it myself!!)

I'm getting used to the language...

I've been using linux for years, so thats not really anything new to me...
that and somehow i've become somewhat adept in C++ so computer language kind of comes natural
