pasting text with Quickoffice

I am trying to paste text copied from another app (Notes) into a new Word document using Quickoffice.

I can select and copy the text from the other app with no problem, but when I go to Quickoffice and tap/hold to paste, the only option that pops up is "Select Text".

Am I doing something wrong, or is it not possible to paste text from a different app into Quickoffice?

In my QuickOffce I get the option to paste from clipboard. It works quite nice.

My version is 3.2.142-HTC -- how would I go about getting the most current version? It's not showing up as "update available" in the Market.

I think you can update directly from the app itself. At the main screen.

The "main screen" for me is just a list of files with "Open File" at the top; the only options when tapping the menu are "Sort", "Search", and "New". None of which have anything about updating.

Is it a free trial version? Mine is a fully paid and registered version. My main screen does have what you described along with the options update explore and support.

It's what came pre-installed on the phone when I got it. (So it was "free" but I don't know anything about it being a "trial" version.)

I think you may have to purchase to get this feature. For my use it was worth the price. YMMV

In the EVO version of Quickoffice you cannot cut, copy or paste. To my knowledge, the only versions that can do this are those installed in a smartphone with a physical keyboard.

Multiple posts to the Quickoffice site referencing this shortcoming go ignored. I take that as a sign that they have no intention of addressing this serious flaw.

The only option I found was an alternative office suite...while I won't recommend one outright, there's at least ThinkFree and Documents 2 Go out there already. And the free but alpha-looking Olive Office. None of these treat a virtual keyboard with Swype quite properly, but if you have the *cough cough* cash they're probably worth the investment.

Though my D2 has a phyisical keyboard you don't have to use it to cutting/paste. Just long press and the options is there.

Well, the EVO shift does have a physical keyboard, but I would imagine it's the same version as in the regular EVO. I searched in the Market and found QuickOffice Pro for $8. That's a little less than the full version of Docs to Go, which is $15. Wondering if it is worth the extra $7.

Does anyone have any opinion on which is better, QuickOffice Pro or DocsToGo full version?

Seems odd to me that the installed version of QuickOffice doesn't have any info on what its limitations are, or how to upgrade.....

According to their website, this was an addition to Version 4 of Quickoffice ($8). On their website, where they encourage suggestions from users, this has been posted and appropriately responded to, and is marked as addressed. Were you perhaps expecting that they should give you a new phone with an updated pre-installed free demo version of their software?

And you're digging up a thread from a month ago (before they updated this feature to work on non physical keyboard phones) to try and trash me for what reason????

I have the paid version. I also posted in their forum requesting the update soon after buying the PAID version AND I posted a thank you to them after they updated.

Not trashing just trying to correct the record and threw in a little humor. Sorry, should have used a smiley but I don't like those little low-res droid smileys. I almost didn't buy Quickoffice because of your post and didn't want others to be misled. Life's too short to take this stuff too seriously.
