PC can't see picture or music files on S5.

PC recognizes Samsung S5 but, I can't see any picture or music files. I used to be able to do this when I connected S5 to my laptop. Now all I can see in the file tree is SAMSUNG-SM-G900V. When I click on that to expand it, nothing is there? I recently was able to export my music files from the PC to the S5 with this transfer cable so, I know it isn't a cable problem.

Welcome to Android Central! When you connect via USB, swipe down the notification panel and tap the USB icon. Then select MTP.

When I look at Notification Panel, there is no button / icon for USB.

Select USB connection setting
Slide your finger down the display starting from the top edge of your phone.
Press Connected as a media device.
Press Media device (MTP) until the function is turned on.

if this doesn't work try to reinstall drivers.
