I'm not a techie, so I was wondering..... I have a Droid that I use PDAnet to tether with. Will and how will I be able to use this with the Xoom. To use this program, you have to download a program for your computer, am I wrong to think that this won't work for the Xoom?

Also, will I have to repay to use Touchdown, Weatherbug elite, etc. since I have them downloaded on my phone?

Thanks so much, really do appreciate the knowledge base on this forum.

If you want to tether your Xoom's internet connection then yes you can use PDANet. I don't think you can use PDANet to get the internet connection on the Xoom from another device though.

Yes, your paid Google apps are tied to your account and will work on the Xoom once you sign in with the same account.

As far as reuse of your programs go, I can speak to Touchdown. As long as you sign on with the same google account you will be able to re-use the Touchdown license. I've had it running on 2 phones at the same time. The big questions is, will it be compatable with Android 3.0?

As far as your 1st question goes, we will have to wait and see. On the G-Tab some modifications needed to be done to make it connect to PDAnet, so I assume the same thing will need to be done with the Xoom. Only a few more days....

Have we any further news on this (using a phone with PDANet to create wifi access for Xoom)?
Hopefully,
Trix

Honestly, rooting your device and installing wireless tether for root users is going to be the easiest option, I'd look into that if I were you

I'm hoping to not have to take the root route.
I haven't flashed/rooted a device since my Treo 650 days and prefer to not tinker with my G2's warranty.

Well rooting on a Droid 2 is literally a one click affair but its much much riskier and complicated on the G2, not sure where you should go from there, those with Droids and Droid X's should probably just root, its easier

I'm a commercial airline Pilot. I have a Droid (1) that I use in the hotels when they charge for the internet access.

Since my Driod has PDANet I can tether my computer to the Droid and use the 3G I have through Verizon to access the INternet.

I am hoping to do the same thing with my Xoom. When the hotels charge a arm and a leg for a couple of hours of internet access, PdaNet is a life (Money) saver.

I sure hope we will be able to tether the Xoom to a Phoe (Droid 1) so I can access the internet when none is available in the hotels we stay at or even at the airport across the country that don't offer Free Internet access.

Please let me know IF / When PdaNet will be available for the Xoom.
