Pedometer on S Health app causes wakelock?

I tried the wakelock Detector app and noticed that the largest minutes of wakelock came from the S Health pedo. I disabled this and the S Health wakelock minutes went almost to zero. Anyone else notice this?

It's just a guess, but it seems that it would be pretty difficult for a pedometer to count steps if it didn't keep the CPU awake...

It isn't an issue on my s7 edge. Though the s7 edge has the 820 with low power processor, I don't think that the 617 does.
