I have been reading all the forums and still haven't read a way to have high resolution photos sync up to the people app. I believe that I read that even the Google+ app doesn't sync high resolution. How do you plan on getting these pics to sync so the pics dont look small at 96x96 but rather full size???

I've been wondering the same thing myself.my contacts are all through google contacts, none local. All have manually-set photos from high-res originals, so I'm hoping it held on to at least 96x96.

As for syncing from apps like Facebook and Google+, I'm not sure.

I can't begin to express how much this bothers me. You can't even add the high res photos to your phone manually because Facebook/Skype/whatever sync will just overwrite them anyway.

I think it has to do with Gmail not supporting the higher resolution photos. Why we still haven't resolved this problem is just beyond my comprehension and it's borderline inexcusable. Really disappointed they haven't done anything about it with that nice new HD Nexus they have there.

exactly!!!! you think the Big G would have thought about that before using it in such a large scale release! and Google hasn't said themselves how this is going to work. :-$

I thought SyncMyPix already had an option for hires. . .
And Facebook, for instance, allows full resolution uploads now. So, problem solved, no?

Ah, maybe this is why when people call me it shows a huge pixelated contact photo. I though it was a bug in the build I'm running. I can't imagine this would be too hard to fix with an update, right?

I'm going to do the revolutionary thing of waiting for the actual phone before worrying about this and trying to figure it out.

It is, that we've been through how many versions of Android and they still haven't added hi res support for synced contact photos... Even if you forgot about Android, is there a reason my Gmail contacts can't have hi res photos other than it hasn't been implemented yet? It's been this way for the longest time, do they not know we want it or something?

They do have an option for high-res, but it isn't all the high-res. That or the Android System itself doesn't allow high-res pictures. For all we know, SyncMyPix will work great on ICS because ICS will allow these high-res pictures for contacts.

It's funny but there is NO WAY you can add high res picture into the new People app at the moment.

I tried. Many times and failed.

Here's what happened: even if you take a photo of yourself there, once the People app syncs with your contacts over on Google side then that photo will be turned into 96x96 or low-res again.

There's only one way to get it to work at the moment: tell all the people in your contact list to join Google+ .. there's no other way at this time.

So then everyone that wants hi res photos please email the developer or start requesting it via Google blog. If he gets enough email he can then go to his supervisor with a case for modification and then perhaps he will be allowed to make the change. He/she needs to have enough hard fact request evidence to make a case for enhancement.

I'm sure they are planning to sync hi Res photos from Google+ in the future. I'm sure Google has thought of this, they are kinda smart.
As for your non Google+ contacts.... Google and Facebook aren't really friendly, so you'll need a 3rd party app. With how popular sync my pics is, I'm guessing there will be an update for it.

I don't need to sync gmail. I use other mail. Here is a work around for people who don't need to sync gmail contact (probably zero). It's useless for 99% of you guy but just in case someone don't use gmail like me.

First, prepare you contact pictures on your PC. Resolution doesn't matter (you can have 8mb if you want) what matter is it has to be square. Copy your pictures to you phone.

Next, I make 50 fake contact name, number in gmail (ex. A1, A2...A50) link all of them with a tiny picture of whatever. Sync them to your phone then turn off sync. Now open your people app with 50 fake contact and change the ID to real name and real phone number. Switch out the tiny picture with the one you prepare earlier in your phone gallery.

I TOLD YOU IT USELESS INFO :) why you keep reading!
