People on XDA are claiming to have root.

It's been confirmed by quite a few people.

May be similar system files or the fact that they are both on 4.1.2 and LG isn't as a PITA about locking stuff up.

I took a screenshot of my SU permissions from mine for proof. I put a few qslide apps on top as well since you couldn't really tell it was an OG Pro otherwise..

Yes but they are saying it works on this phone as well. I'm running out of reasons not to get this phone. The main one is that it is on AT&T and I have a strong preference for Verizon. But I also want to see what is announced at Google I/O. A Verizon Nexus 4 would work for me.

Hmm this is interesting but its root designed for another device.

K...why root other than to use the phone on another network? I mean there is nothing wrong with this phone at all.

Mine was just to back up games and apps for now. Going to try pushing another browser file and see if it fixes the double tap to zoom. But in no hurry

You don't need root in order to unlock the phone for use on another carrier. It is nice however to be able to use Titanium Backup to move over game saves and whatnot.

I rooted so that I could freeze all of the AT&T applications and install AdAway. Most of the applications could be disabled through Settings > General > Apps, but there were a few that wouldn't allow you to disable them unless you have root access and use another application, like Titanium Backup.
