When I tap Battery I get a "permission denied" error.
Anyone able to help me fix. I'm using Nova Prime on 7.1.1.
Thanks.

What phone do you have? I remember reading about a similar permission problem with some Huawei phones.

I'm using Nova Prime launcher. The other pop-up buttons work with no "permission denied" error.
I've tried the stock launcher but it doesn't have the long-press icons feature.

Strange that it only happens with the battery shortcut. As far as I know you don't need to grant any special permission for this feature to work. Just in case, go to settings - apps - Nova - permissions and make sure everything is ok in there.

Another thought. Do you have any battery saver mode enabled or any third party battery app installed on your phone?

All Nova permissions look ok. And there's no battery saver mode enabled and no third-party app.
I've tired all the homescreen pop-up shortcuts and they're all working...except the Battery one.
Weird or what?
Thanks for your help guys btw.

Very weird. You could try Nova settings - advanced - restart Nova Launcher and then restart the phone, just in case something got stuck in Nova, but I don't put much faith on it :)

Another possibility is removing the settings widget and adding it back.

I searched a little bit and didn't find anything similar to your problem, just the old issue with Huawei phones that was fixed.

Do you know, I really had a feeling that removing the settings icon and adding it back would work.
But afraid not :-\
And I tried resetting Nova but no joy.
Believe me, I've googled til the cows come home. The phone is much the same as the ZTE V870. But, again, no luck.
It's just a minor irritation but it's now become a quest to fix it. Hey ho!
Probably an OS fault.

Hey ho then! :D

What about this. What happens if you create a dedicated widget only for the battery? Long press - widgets - scroll down and drag the settings widget - select 'battery'. Do you get the same error?

Well....dedicated battery widget works, but simply takes me to Battery Saver, which isn't the screen I want.

But...creating one in Nova for Battery works and does take me to the screen I want...the one with usage Time Left etc.

So, I now have a widget for the screen I want. Thank you. And no Permission problems with either of these methods.

Still, would be nice to be able to long-press the Settings homescreen icon and get this screen when I tap Battery in the pop up.

That's something! :)

That's the one thing I wanted to test. It looks like the problem is with in-app actions shortcut after the latest update. I would clear cache from the storage settings and wipe the cache partition from recovery, just in case something got stuck in there.

There are different options for the battery widget under Nova Activities. This is the one that works for me. Maybe it's different in your phone.

OK..wiped the Settings cache...no joy.
Wiped Recovery cache partition...no joy.
:(
But I'm now realising just what a powerful app Nova is. I've only been using it for a week and realise I've just scratched the surface. Good launcher.

Oh well.

Yeah, Nova is quite powerful and that gave me an idea. Have you already tried the swipe up action for icons? You can set an action (battery stats) when you swipe up on the settings icon. Long press the icon - edit - swipe up - select the one that worked before for the dedicated widget. Now you have three different actions for the same shortcut (tap, long press and swipe up).

If you like it ... :)

BRILLIANT!

Works a treat.

:) :D :)

No wonder you're Ambassador!

Thank you so much for taking the time and effort. Much appreciated.

Hahaha. Excellent! Glad it helped, mate! Now we can sleep tonight. :D

Let me know if you need any help with Nova. Plenty of features hidden in the settings.
