I can't open the gallery app with all my photographs because it keeps saying that it needs access to device storage, and the next prompt is to '..select permissions in app info to enable...' I tried that and it doesn't lead anywhere except a list of apps that are all mark yes. I've done a factory reset and nothing has changed. Idea

Go to Settings>Apps​, then select the Gallery app. Is there a Permissions section there?

yes it notes no permissions granted. when I touch that section I go to screen headed Gallery, which has contacts and storage switch-on buttons, both are off and will not switch on.

Also, make sure you're logged into the phone as yourself, and not under a guest profile.

thanks for the advice. yes continues to display the location fault in safe mode. I'm going to have to take it to a tech somewhere as I don't really understand how this works - you know, I don't know what I don't know. phone is holding charge well and otherwise functions as intended. thanks for your time.
