Persistent 3rd party messaging service notification

Since updating my Pixel 2 to Pie last week I've noticed that when I type a quick reply though the notification shade for text messages I receive from Textra or BBM, the notification for the incoming text message persists as if I have not responded to it. I can see that the response I've written has been sent back if I open the full app though so the reply feature is working, but the notification doesn't go away like it uses to.

Kinda difficult to explain and even with a screenshot it may not be very clear, does anyone else have this issue?

Yeah, i know what you're describing. Used to quick reply in notification and then notification would abate. May be a bug with Pie, but I think the individual app developers may need to update their apps.

I was thinking the same, checked Textra but didn't see anything in the dev blog, and once I noticed the same with BBM (don't judge, I still find it useful ) I started to wonder if it was system/OS-wide. Glad it isn't just me, but sad others are dealing with the same issue.

I even went back into the Textra settings and re-toggled the auto close setting to no avail after testing it out.

Edit: I did note that playing with the settings further down under Android and / or Textra Heads Up Buttons (couldn't tell a difference), a decent work-around is to set one of the buttons to "Quick Reply" which basically take the place of opening the quick reply prompt, and does properly work to dismiss the notification after you complete your response.

Edit #2 : Correction; in the previous page, setting your Heads-up Notification style to Android vs. Textra determines which pop-ups, and in turn which buttons, are displayed.

It looks like Textra addressed this with their latest update. Replying directly from the notification now completely dismisses the message.

I figured as much, though in the interim I found a setting that let me add quick actions (quick reply, mark read/unread, etc) so it's not as big of an issue for me anymore. Thanks though!
