personal info "in the cloud" is it only me that's uncomfortable?

I have to agree with the OP. I'm not a fan putting my info in the cloud. I managed to set up my xoom, which I got before the TB using my original google account. This was was without a gmail account. I don't need another email account to deal with. But Verizon couldn't figure out how set up my phone like I had set my my xoom, so I now have a TWO google accounts, one with gmail and one without.

I'll be looking for a stand alone app that runs on Ubuntu that I can syn my calendar and contacts with. When I find one I'll post it here.
For now I'll watch this thread to see what people find out.

I realize some people don't like clouds but it's going to be a part of life you're going to have to deal with. Even if you don't put your personal data in clouds others will. The world is moving to store stuff in clouds at some point in the near future, if it isn't already, all of your data will be in clouds/online: financial (bank, investments, etc) information, health information (insurance companies, doctors offices, etc), email (just because you don't use gmail doesn't mean your email is only on your desktop), etc.

Even before all this data was online, what's to stop people at any company you've ever dealt with from divulging your personal information? It may be a little easier for information to fall into the wrong hands but you also get a lot of benefits from things being online/in-clouds.

I think its really cool to have the calender sense widget and see all the birthdays from fb. sense <3

Exactly. That is where morals and integrity come into play.
