Phil what are your thoughts???

I'd think he's irritated with the entire thing.

I know I would be!!! He really got thrown under the bus after he went out on the ledge and confirmed the 12/9 thing -- I would be pretty annoyed with Verizon myself, had it happened to me.

LMAO. =D

Ok Phil you usually have some sort of idea as to what is going on.

OK. Here's where I stand from what I know at the moment. Dec. 16 is very much a working date now. But I'm also told Dec. 15 is still on the table.

In other words, nothing's really changed. Verizon's not 100 percent yet -- and, literally, these things have changed hour to hour. It's ridiculous. But I wouldn't mention Dec. 16 if I didn't trust my sources. So maybe Thursday, maybe Friday.

Edit: And see how quickly things change? Dec. 15 it is. :)

What I really think:

This has gotten way out of hand. Did I really see sites asking Verizon to announce when a press release will be sent out? That's bush-league from people who should know better. Verizon will announce it when they're good and ready, same as it ever was.

And when Verizon says it'll be out this year, that's the exact same thing they said in October. So nothing's changed. Move on. Not news.

If you haven't seen that Galaxy Nexus simulator yet, it's pretty slick. Hardly like holding the device, but it's a nice way to see how to do things in Ice Cream Sandwich.

If you haven't yet read our review of the GSM Galaxy Nexus, GO READ IT. We should have a Verizon review unit soon. But I'm really not expecting it to be grossly different than the GSM version I've been using since Thanksgiving. The battery life with LTE is a big question. And I'm curious to see how much thicker it feels. But otherwise? Same phone, folks.

And now, I'm going back to work, which involves plenty of things other than the Galaxy Nexus. You folks play nice. :)

This is really starting to look almost as bad as the Thunderbolt earlier this year. It's very frightening how disjointed VZW has become from it's mother ship. I just checked another store in my area and as of 5PM ET, they said it will be available tomorrow.

Other major carriers do not seem to have these kinds of problems. Any insight, without hurting your VZW connections, about why their execution seems so much worse?

Did I miss something? I'm confused about Phil's edit claiming it is officially December 15.

Only because we see all this internal stuff (damn, I hate that even I am subject to the swearing filter) that we're (a) not supposed to see and (b) see without any real context anywhere. We're as guilty of it as anybody (but not as guilty as some). And there have been plenty of times (especially in the past week) where we just haven't posted anything.

Do we really need daily updates that Dec. 15 is still the unofficial date? I have better things to do than post that once a day. :)

But you just said it IS the date. I'm SO confused.

I agree completely with the fact, essentially, that seeing how the sausage is made is part of the problem. I also agree that we see only a piece and nothing of the whole. But, I think we've reached a bizarre point here where a statistically significant amount of Verizon Wireless Corporate stores are sure the device is launching tomorrow and are openly telling customers that.

Everything up until this point, for me at least, has just been inside baseball on these forums. But, when I call a store (or two) today and get a message that I can "for sure" come in tomorrow morning and get one -- that's set in stone.

Also, I applaud you and the rest of the team for showing restraint. I'm sure it's tough to watch competitors troll for clicks and links like crazy on the latest "Nexus Tidbit". It's always nice to find a class act. Keep it up.
