So, I picked up my epic this morning, and so far I've been loving it...this evening I had it charging, went to take it off the charger and saw there was some weird error dealing with an android module. I clicked okay and the phone rebooted. I get the sprint logo, the galaxy s logo...and then nothing. It gives me a blank screen...any one have any idea?

Many many many times now..still nothing. The phone is also beeping about every minute or 2.

How do you do a hard reset?

edit...googled how to do a hard reset and even that doesn't work. Just got off the phone with Radio Shack, guess I'll be making a visit in to them early in the AM...

According to Sprint I got a defective phone (pretty sure the people answering the phones and the tech support people don't know much about the epics). Lovely, I always seem to have that kind of luck. First my pearl, then my tour, now the epic. Maybe it's just me....

Software bricked your phone. Happens to many, so you're probably not the only unlucky one. I can guarantee you though that this problem is one in a million. ;)

No clue how I could have bricked it. It literally was sitting on the charger, just waiting for the lil one to go to bed so I could play with it. Hadn't installed anything, hadn't rooted it, hadn't done anything.

Is there any way I can restore the software myself?

Hmm, have you attempted to boot into recovery?

If you mean hold down the down volume and hit power...yah, tried that. Doesn't work.

I've given up for tonight. Just gonna be without a phone until 10 AM tomorrow. Gonna feel weird without a phone, and I'm too lazy to reactivate my old phone. Cest la vie. My wife keeps laughing at me telling me this is why I shouldn't buy a phone the day it comes out. Just for that next time she does something to her phone, I'm just gonna laugh and walk away.

Well, good luck. Hope your new one works better.;)

One hopes too...I really like the phone, the feel of it and all that. Coming from someone who's a big blackberry person the fact that I really love this phone is saying something. Just need to get one that works.

My phone just randomly did this as well. If I pull and re-seat the battery, the phone will turn on, show the galaxy s logo, then play the sprint animation and then the screen just goes blank. The capacitive buttons on the bottom light up whenever the screen or the button area is touched. Did you find a way to reset the phone without having to take it back?
