Hi! Hoping to get ome help troubleshooting my phone.
Behaviour is that when I press a hot key in the phone app (long pressing "1" to access voicemail for example) the call seems to initiate but does not connect. After a minute or so, I figure there is a problem so I press the hang up button. It says call ended, but it never disconnects because when I try to call again (or any other number) I get a message "Call not sent".
10 or so minutes later, I hear the disconnect chime.

Samsung A52 5G 128GB
No repairs recently
New phone
Fully up to date
Behaviour happens sometimes, but not all the times...estimated 50 - 60 % of the time
Unlocked phone but on telus network.
Same sim card since my apple days iPhone 5

I have cleared the data and the cache on the phone app
Made sure all software is up to date
Did a full factory reset
sent a prayer to the android gods

Still the problem exists. Any help would be GREATLY appreciated!

Hi Laura, thanks for the quick reply. I am also suspicious of the sim. I will pop by the telus store tomorrow and get a new one. Probably a good idea to do in any case since the sim is so old!

Welcome to AC!
Sending a prayer to Android god's always a step in the right direction

Your using the default phone app just to verify?

Thank you for the welcome! :)

and thanks for the follow up. Yes, I'm using the default app. I've had the same sim since approx 2012 (iPhone 5 until 2018 and then Samsung S7 until now).

It's a very odd and non-consistent behavior. I'm trying to replicate it consistently which but no luck yet....hence the Android god prayer :)

I'm back using my S7 until tomorrow and I'll post results (hopefully positive). Maybe if it is the SIM, someone else might also benefit from this thread!

You can try safe mode see if this happens it will disable all 3rd party apps that we can test if 3rd party app or something more

Great idea as well Mustang. I had not thought of that. I'll do that tomorrow and post results. Instead of finding out what it is, eliminate what it isn't and get closer to the issue.

OK, I have an update! So I went into safe mode and tried to make a call to my VM and to another number that I hot keyed. I received the same behavior, so that was one more thing ruled out. So I activated the SIM card when I got home(Telus wanted 15 dollars to do it!) and very nervously tried, and it worked! I've been sitting on the couch long pressing keys for some reason expecting it to fail but, so far it is 15/15 connecting.

Hopefully it keeps working like this. :)

On another note that leaves me scratching my head....when I put the old sim back into the S7 last night, the issue did not exist at all! Go figure that out.

Laura and Mustang, thank you both very much for helping me troubleshoot and get me back up and running. I appreciate it very much!!

Carl, I'm glad you got it sorted and hope it stays that way for you. You're very welcome, and I'm glad I was able to help.
