Phone constantly freezes and lags

I'm sick and tired of this phone,it seems as if it's overwhelmed when multiple apps are open or running. Never had issues with previous HTC's. Thinking about going back to Samsung. Help please

what version of OS are you on? stock or rooted with custom rom?
applied all the updates? Are you always leaving it on or do you power cycle it daily or every few days?
Have you cleared the system cache?
Do you have specific apps that this happens with? If so what are they?

Android 5.0.1,stock, it's updated,always on,never power cycle. Happens with all apps

Theres your first problem. Never poer cycle. Its an electronic device. It has the capability to be powered off. Try using that and see what happens.
I power cycle my devices daily or every other day.
Usually if i happen to wake up in the middle of the night or something. Ill shut it off and turn it back on when i wake up.

I downloaded an app called Greenify, basically this hibernates background apps that are running and consuming battery and RAM. It really has helped my phone out, I would thoroughly recommend it.

How much phone memory have you got left. When I had less than 1 gig my phone would constantly lag and freeze. So I deleted files I did not need. And moved many photos to the sd card. Phone was upto speed again after I did this.
