I am a total newbie here. I'm coming over from a blackberry and blue toothed all my contacts over to my new EVO. There all there but there all saved as PHONE CONTACTS and not Gmail Contacts and isnt one of the main things about android having the contacts stored on gmail so you never loose contacts again?? How to I change them over what do i have to do?? Thanks so much

Check out the GMAIL site. There is import and export options available with directions. Warning, make sure you have a backup copy of your contacts before you start messing around.

I think you already have good answers but I simply uploaded my contacts from both my old phone and Outlook to my Google account. I then used the Google web interface to merge any duplicates and edit them. When I logged into Google with the Evo they were synced to the phone. I also found that any Facebook photos were attached to them. Sweet!

Ok so i exported all my contacts to my SD card and then imported them to Gmail contacts online and then i sent them to MY CONTACTS on my computer. But now my prob is I have the PHONE contacts and the GMAIL contacts on my phone???

you obviously didn't listen to me.

Gekko dont hit me haha, I already had all my contacts moved over from my blackberry so i didnt know how to wipe them all out haha

What do you recommend to keep Gmail up to date with contacts that are created right on the phone? In my experience so far, the Evo only pulls Gmail contacts down but doesn't send them back up...

no this is false. it syncs both ways. BUT you need to make sure your EVO is set up to save new Contacts to your Gmail account.
