Hi All

First post, I'm not very techie but would appreciate some advice.
I've had my Note 4 for two years now (I think) and it's performed faultlessly. Prior to this I had a Note 1. I am in Australia and got my phone through Optus if that's relevant.

Recently (last month or so) Clean Master and CM Security have been prompting me to 'clean' the phone and reduce RAM etc 2-3 times a day. In the last two days it's been freezing and staying on a black screen necessitating my removing the battery to get it going again. I've noticed it shuts itself off occasionally too.

It's gone from being great, as in no issues, to downright painful in a very short period of time. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

First of all get rid of those crappy apps they really don't do anything. I use to have them myself and realize they don't work if anything they will slow your phone down. I had this similar issue with my phone and it was on lollipop. Once I've upgraded to Marshmallow everything is back to normal in fact I find my phone even more stable and faster. I was so tempted to do a factory restore after the upgrade cause i find every upgrade something always goes wrong. However, this time everything went smoothly. Also you should should be very careful with some of the apps, some apps tend to drain your battery and use more memory resources so that's something that you're gonna have to play with.

Clean Master is an awful app. It slowed and overheated my phones.

I use SD Maid for cleaning up the phone's junk, works like magic.
