Phone gets stuck in Roaming

I hope this hasn't already been covered, if it has I am very sorry. I'm not sure if this is in any way related to the LOS issue.
My phone roamed for the fist time today, and when I went to an area where I know I have sprint coverage the phone did not automatically switch to the sprint network. I couldn't go back until I pressed 4G and all of a sudden it switched to sprint. Anyone else seen this? Any suggestions on what settings I may have to tweek?

Hmmm not sure on this one, as I haven't had much experience with roaming on this phone. Out of curiosity, is your Roaming setting set to "Sprint only" or "Automatic"?

Well the good news it wasn't LOS the roam icon is good
The bad news Its more then likely network issue
Its happened to me on a number of devices - Blackberrys , Palm Treo and one of my favorites toys the HTC EVO.
Soft resets & battery pulls were needed to get back on 3G

I was hoping I could avoid resets. My roam setting is on automatic but I switched it to sprint when I was stuck in roaming, but that didn't seem to work, it didn't switch back to sprint on until I turned on 4G.

happens to me sometimes when I'm roaming off Verizon inside a building and I go outside where I get full bars with sprint, it stays on roaming with Verizon. Turning on 4g does fix this. It doesn't happen everytime but it doesn't bother me if I stay roaming on verizon

That's exactly what happned. I was inside a building (4G was off) whenit just lost signal and switched to roaming. Once I went outside for about 10 minutes, I noticed it was still roaming, that's when I started to try to force it back to Sprint. The only thing that seemed to work was turning ont 4G, even though I couldn't get 4G where I was. Still find it a pain that this damn phone won't just automatically switch, like my crappy Palm Pre did.

I personally think there is a bug with roaming on this phone, that also has a lot, if not everything, to do with the loss of service (LOS) issues some owners are experiencing. A developer that has worked on a reboot script for LOS has looked at log dumps after LOS events and roaming is usually involved.

A firmware update is supposedly in Sprint's hands right now and undergoing testing, but this is only rumor and speculation until Sprint announces it. Hopefully we see an update push out before year end.

I wouldn't be surprised JayWill72 regarding the roaming. I personally have only "data roamed" once on my phone. I lose data connectivity where I know I should roam. I still have voice (roam) but just no data. But, I do like this phone otherwise.

This happened with me as well where I went my office building (where I get terrible sprint service). I would voice roam but not data roam.

I got it to data roam by toggling on and off data roaming in Settings > Wireless Networks > Roaming> Data roaming and 3G data in Settings > Wireless Networks > Mobile networks> 3g Data. It's been working fine ever since. Hope this helps

Last night Tower in my area screwed up due to bad weather which threw my signal into roam yet data displayed 3G with pretty fast transfer 970down 800up.....I'm guessing It was feeding on Verizon.
An hour later It flipped network to roam , 3G to 1x back and forth for roughly 30 min then LOS displayed.
I then turned roaming off then back on & LOS icon cleared roam came back followed by Sprint network service an hour later.

My take,
When LOS icon hits radio stops refreshing looking for signal. If Viper can write scrip to Turn off/on roaming when LOS displays we have are true temp fix

yep yep already been done It was an exciting event that I had to share.
I don't think my girlfriend was happy about 2am call asking her to check EVO to see if it was roaming.
She let me know it was then told me to go to **** with hang up within seconds.
Flowers are on the way to fix that lol
