I am starting to dislike my phone because of this.. almost every call I make or take, the phone is crashing - hard.. it even seems to take longer than normal to reboot. How can I work out what is going wrong or should I just take my phone in to the provider for a replacement?

Am on Android 4.3 and this behaviour has been going on for almost two months now.

I wonder if the dialer app has some corrupt data? Try clearing cache and data in settings, and see if that might help. I don't know if it's listed in Settings, Apps, All? Good luck. You could also try a different dialer app from the play store and see if it makes a difference.

Well, I took the phone back to Telstra and they sent it to the Samsung repair office, who essentially "gave it a clean". l reset the device before handing it in. These are the notes I got back from the repair office:

Software reinstall to rectify software related issues including freezing, checked main board, and passed script test, and cleaned contacts of the parts, realigned connectors, reset to manufacturer's specifications. All accessories registered upon arrival including memory card (where applicable) have been returned.

So, I will just have to wait and see if it still crashes.

Once they reset the OS back to factory, you should not see the issue anymore. That being said, be very careful which apps you load on to your phone...there are plenty of poorly written apps that will wreak havoc on parts of your OS...

That's a big part of the problem I admin - not knowing at all if it's a hardware or software issue..
