I'm getting all kinds of random notifications after having set them up several times. Then I change them back to the notification I want, and a few days later they randomly changed again. Is anybody else dealing with this crap?

Using stock or 3rd party app to control notifications -and- are your selected sound files in default folders or, otherwise?

I actually had this problem. The selected ringtone or notification will disappear and replaced by weird default after I plug my phone to a computer via USB. I copied my ringtones to my internal SD card thinking that might help; it did, but didn't last long. I did, however, find a solution by using RingDroid or other third party application to set the ringtone/notification and keep it there. For some reason, the app forced the phone to recognize the selected ringtone/notification and I haven't had problem since.

Do you have a Profile Manager on your phone. I had Audio Manager. It worked great for a long time and then recently, I had the same issue you report all my notifications would change to "default sound 9685." I uninstalled Profile Manger and the problem went away.

I was just looking for an answer to my Nexus 5 and my Nexus 10 changing my notification sounds back to old settings. This was the answer I needed! Although, I didn't uninstall Audio Manager Pro. I noticed that in the settings for my individual sound profiles, there were specific sounds selected to use with them. This would force the default settings in the phone to change to whatever Audio Manager had set in the profile that was selected. So, I changed the profile sounds to use the default sound rather than specific sounds. That makes Audio manager use whatever is in the settings rather than changing the setting to match the profile.
