Phone Keeps Freezing up....

I tried searching the forums and can't truly find an answer I am looking for. I rooted my phone a good 4 - 5 months ago. I had switched between different ROM's but had settled on Baked Snack.. Started with 1.7 and was running 1.9. About a month ago my EVO started freezing up on me. The only thing I could do to fix it was pull the battery. Over a couple of days I had to pull the battery 5 or 6 times and reboot, Finally it just seemed to clear up and I went a week or so with no problems and then it started freezing up again.

Never really the same as some times it would freeze up while using the camera, during text messages, e-mail, and while using Facebook.

I have done a complete factory reset and reinstalled the ROM and finally a few days ago it froze up and a battery pull didn't fix the problem. The phone would go to the white HTC EVO 4G screen and that was it... I couldn't get it to even boot the ROM at all.

So I booted into recovery and restored an old version of Baked Snack... 1.7 I think and it came up but then almost instantly froze up again. The screen stays fully lit up but you can't do a thing...... Power button, volume button, hard keys across the bottom.. NOTHING clears it up at all.... Only a battery pull...

So I thought maybe there is a problem with Baked Snack and I was able to wipe and flash Fresh's latest ROM and it was perfectly fine for 3 - 4 days and I thought "Yeah it must have been a problem with Baked Snack." Then last night while taking some pictures it froze up and I had to do a complete restore back to Baked 1.7 and then reflash fresh... Then this morning while sending an e-mail it completely froze up again...

The screen kind of flickers a little right when it freezes up so I am THINKING it has to be a hardware issue since it's freezing up on any ROM I install but I am not sure.... Might have to unroot and take it up to Sprint and let them take a look at it..

Any suggestions before I take it back????? This is the first time since release day I have had any problems with the phone at all... It's been a great phone until now....

You can try a rooted sprint rom though so you don't have to un root right away, just to be sure: [ROM] RUU SuperSonic EvO 3.70.651.1 OTA - Stock - Sense - Deodexed & Odexed Version - xda-developers

Again thank you.... Getting ready to flash here in a minute and see if it helps any... I have two different ROM's backed up... It's weird because once it freezes up the only way I can get it back up and running is to pull the battery, reboot into recovery and go to one of my nandroid back ups and wipe and restore... Then it will work okay for a day or two and then it starts freezing up again.. Had to go through this whole process AGAIN this morning but it's been fine since...

Modifying any device is changing it from its original state, and could result in having problems with your phone.. I have had several freezing issues with my EVO, but that was fix by doing a full complete reset(i.e.##786# process) that is considered a complete reset of the device.

If you had done that - and you're still having issue, then return the device for repairs or replacement.

Best of luck.

Could I still use my nandroid backup to be back where I started? or does this wipe out the nandroid and unroot the phone???
