phone keeps on shutting off, please help

Randomly the phone screen goes black and it starts to vibrate in my hand. And is just off

If I hold down power button it revolts

The phone is running oe gingerbread no rooting

What can I do

Have you checked the battery? Could possibly be a glitch with the OS. I'd suggest taking it to an ATT store and they can do a diagnostic.

same exact thing happened to me and a buddy. he said he let it sit over a year (using another phone in hoping to get rid of his for $). Unfortunatly my buddy had to revert back to an old phone and claimed his just work again. I dont want to wait that long. maybe just need the battery to completely drain? im attempting that myself.
any other ideas?
