Phone locked up twice (no soft reset?)

After having the Sensation for 3-4 days it has now locked up on me twice (both times were midway through some weather animations). I've found that pressing and holding the power button DOES NOT reboot the phone as it has for my previous Androids. Googling "hard" or "soft reset" only directs me to pull the battery, but I have the Body Glove phone case which requires a coin to pry open (and will eventually break from opening too many times in my experience). Is there another way to reset the phone after a lock-up? I've tried combinations of the power & volume buttons to no avail. This is a simple feature that I cant believe was overlooked. Every smartphone is bound to lock up at least once in a while. but you shouldnt have to pull the battery each time.

Very disappointed that my phone locked up on day two, btw....hoping its some minor sense 3 issue because its new. I turned off "all animations" and that seemed to help, but I still have a lot of animations going in spite of the setting change (also odd). Speaker is a piece of junk and the phone is barely audible on the highway...yet another disappointment. Hopefully HTC doesnt update as slowly as Samsung or I may just return the thing. I do love the speed this phone....very fast.

No lockups for me in 2 weeks. I have had a few moments where an app has locked up, but pressing home has always brought me to the home screen.

You may an app that is not playing nice with the phone, so it's locking up.

Yeah, not many apps seem to be optimized for the screen size so thats a good thought....luckily its only happened twice so far...but never happened again since turning off all animations (could just be coincidence). I also turned off the weather lock screen widget after the 2nd lock up.

Still would like to see a soft reset button...long press the power button...etc...
