I took my disused moto g4 play out of the draw yesterday. It wasn't rooted or anything. I was thinking of putting it up for sale, so I factory reset it. When it booted back up the baseband, imie numbers showed up as unknown. So I did a hard reset through stock recovery, but now the phone won't get past the setup. It hangs at turnng on wifi. I also says mac address 02:00:00:00?? I mean the phone was working fine before the reset. Now I can;t even flash back top stock because I never unlocked the bootloader, and I can't turn on usb debugging mode since I can't even get into the phone now. Again no root or roms were ever flashed to this device

I've read its most likely a hardware issue. Any ideas, or similar experiences?

Thanks

If it can be booted into Odin mode, perhaps you can check what went wrong... I'd be taking it to phone place where ppl have the software to reflash it etc...

It was a hardware problem I sent it back to Moto, I guess it was still under warranty as they simpy mailed me a replacement.phone. But like an *****, I did't read the part about not including the battery and battery door. :- So now I have a new moto g4 play but with no battery or back battery door.

*Update* Moto just sent me back the battery and battery door via fedex. So all's well that ends well.
