Phone Menu always visible

When I play my games on my Pixel 7a phone, the phone menu is visible and screws up the game. Don't know how to change it.

The whole game is there but the quit screen, home screen etc buttons overlap the game and I can't hit certain pieces of the game without constantly flipping the phone so the options move to the other end of the phone

Does that happen with all games, or only certain ones? I don't think there's a setting for that, so I'm guessing it's a coding deficiency due to the developer -- send feedback to the game developer and let them know about this.

Also, have you considered switching to gesture navigation? That would probably change the buttons to a more innocuous line that wouldn't interfere with your gameplay.

That's odd, because the bar should auto-hide during a game, after which it can be brought up again by swiping up a little from the bottom of the screen.
