For the past week now my phone has not gotten 4g at places it used to such as my house and the areas around there. Even when I got 4g back again, it only lasted a few seconds until it died back to 3g or even 1x. Data has been dying out constantly. Today I called tech support and did a factory reset, still the same with no lte. Was then told that it might be my sim card, so I went to a corporate store and got a new sim card. It took a while but eventually the phone jumped back into 4g. Thinking my problem was solved, I drove home only to find that 4g again dropped back to 3g and stayed that way. I live in Los Angelese County, is anyone else here experiencing the same problem? Or is it just my phone's radio and I need to replace the phone?

You might need to open a network trouble ticket with VZW. The tower(s) near your home may be causing your problems. Similar has/is happening in Louisville, Kentucky.

Are the towers up to date. I live in New York city. I see towers on a lot of roofs. It looks like the old days when all you could see was T.V. ant. on a lot of roofs. Will they be any thing Better or what:cool:ihope so???:)

I live in Pittsburgh and have been having the same thing going on for 2 weeks now. My phone is rooted so I am putting off calling in...

I've been working in Pittsburgh for the past couple of weeks and have had a steady 4g signal while I'm there.

I guess I should have been more specific. I am in Gibsonia. It's a suburb of PGH. I can get 4G all around the city. But not near my home any more.

Have you all tried pulling the battery and sliding out the SIM tray... making sure to leave the SIM tray out for over 2 minutes, then reassembling everything, making sure the battery door is securely in place with no gaps around the edges?

It forces your phone to reauthenticate the SIM card, which in a few cases can improve/restore 4G connections. Its no guaranteed fix, but its something to try that simple and easy.

I will give that a shot as soon as I get home from work and will let you guys know if that fixes anything.

I get 4g the whole way north on 79 until Evans City. I haven't been in Gibsonia for a while though...

The SIM card trick worked! I have a full signal of 4G at the house now. Why it only effected me at my home I have no idea but I am back to normal. :D

I have had several (4) replacement sim cards and nothing has worked for me. Verizon is now sending me my 5th Thunderbolt.

I'm curious, when you got your new sim car, did you:

Perform a factory reset to your phone first?
Install the sim card in the locatation you were not receiving 4g (at home)?
remove your memory card and then installed the new sim card?

I didn't get a new SIM card. All I did was shut it down, pull the card for a few minutes, put it back together and booted it back up. As simple as a thing it is, it worked for me.

I'm in memphis, TN and I've had the same problems. Our 4G network just recently just went up, so I assumed it is down for maintenance or something.

Is it possible that this could BREAK the 4G connection? I ask because I found my way to this forum because this weekend I pulled my SIM card to fix the GPS not-locking-in issue (as recommended in a different thread) and now it seems my 4G coverage is nil in areas where it used to be strong, both at home and at work.

Thoughts?

Tried that too. Not sure wha'ts going on with my phone or the 4g netwrok. It would'nt be so bad if the phone would at least stay in 3g. This is driving me crazy

I had already factory reset my phone

The verizon guy at the store installed it there and it was working for a while, then disappear once I got home, which is less than a mile away.

Did not remove the memory card.

Yesterday I went to a few verizon stores and 4g would pop backup, did a few speed tests with both my phone and the Thunderbolts at the store, it seems like my Thunderbolts speeds were only a third to half the speeds of the one at the stores, hopefully the replacement Thunderbolt that I'll be getting today will fix this problem

I hope it works for you my friend. I have had several replacements and nothing has worked for me. I have even had both the LG and the Samsung 4g phones (hatted both of them) and both of them worked fine.

If the new replacement does not work for me, I may just wait a few weeks and have them send me the Droid Bionic.

Thanks! I got the replacement and 4g is working again :D I guess it was just the radio in my old one that was causing the problem
