phone not updating market

I was looking at some older posts and I noticed a post about a month ago of a market update from version 1714 to 2007 and it includes automatic updating. I just got my phone a week ago and im on the current software update but I don't have the newest market update. Is there other people that don't have the market update?

My wife has the htc hero and she never got it either and a bunch of different phones got the update for market. I wonder if just certain people got it.

You have to be on 2.2 to see the new market feature of automatic updates.

Supposidly it was a silent update to a bunch of phones running eclair. I don't have. I traded my eve in for epic and the new market is cool. I want to get it on my epic.

the people that you saw with the market update, im pretty sure are on custom roms.

if you flash a custom rom i guarentee you will have the new market update.
i dont think i ever had it before i rooted either.

Oh ok that makes since I was wondering cause with fray coming soon I wanted my phone to be up to date with everything.

Wrong. I was not rooted and I have auto updates. My wifes epic oddly does not. Android central had an article and podcast mentioning the "silent market update" with no warning or announcement.

So brandonc yours got it and your wides doesn't? I wonder if it was only pushed to some people and not all. I just got my phone so I didn't have it in October when they did it so they probably are not pushing it anymore

Well if you want it, root your phone. Get with the times

And muscle, not having the market wont prevent you from getting the update.
But rooted phones are already getting froyo roms

Well in the thread above on page 3, there was a way to manually update the market to the newer market for non-rooted users.

Not sure why the link isn't working properly, just edit the url to look correct and it will work.

My epic got it awhile back but my wife's epic did not. For a silent update that google pushed to bring froyo market to eclair devices you think they would have done a better job at it. Who's knows what happened to cause only some phones to get it and others to not.but nothing to really worry about for us epic owners since we should be getting froyo anytime soon.

Wife and I both had our phones @ launch. I have no idea why I have it and she does not. I've not been impressed with Sprint regarding OTAs. Had issues with the EVO and the EPIC so I don't really see this as a Samsung thing... but perhaps I'm wrong.

Guessing a mod fixed my link for me, when I posted it, it was putting in the URL twice in the address bar so the page wouldn't load.
