ok so i bought a razr maxx in mint condition off ebay, thing looked great, battery lasts long, operates fine.
But when i call people, they can hardly hear me, like it is muzzled, low volume on there end and very crappy.
i left some voice mails to my self to check it out and it is bad, then i left one with my old htc rezound and it is a lot better, defiantly the phone.
what gives cause everyone says the call quality on the razr is great.
going to have a friend of mine who has the razr max leave me a voice mail so I can compare to see if its just my razr.

Can you really be sure it was mint condition on eBay?

Try turning off Voice Privacy in the phone settings.

Go into the phone app, click on the menu button, click on settings, and at the bottom, you will see Voice Privacy.

I bought my RAZR MAXX new from Verizon and am not happy with voice quality either. It seems any phone I buy I'm always jealous of those around me - especially on speaker phone. I came from Sprint to get that "awesome" Verizon service and find it's not much better than Sprint. Data is though. I can text from levels down in a parking garage and surf better in the work elevator than I could before, but voice/call quality aren't noticeably different to me. It was sad to lose unlimited everything and go to a 2GB data plan to keep my bill just about twice what it was before.

OK, I've drifted - sorry! Ending my minor rant...

The voice quality on my Maxx is definitely better than my old Droid Incredible. Where do you live? Verizon isn't always the best service in a given city.

Voice privacy actually doesn't have anything to do with the quality of the call, that's a misconception.

All it does is it adds an extra layer of encryption so it's harder to tap into from an outside source. Though if the fbi wanted to hear you this difference would only mean .2 seconds, but it doesn't hurt to leave it on

Yeah, I've also read that it doesn't affect the quality of the call, but as you might expect on the intertubes, there are people who swear it makes a noticeable difference.
