Phone recognizes speakers but not earphones?

Phone recognizes speakers but not earphones

My Alcatel onetouch Idol3 will play music just on on an AUX cable or external speakers, but when I plug in any earphones, it won't recognize them at all. They used to work, but suddenly stopped. Any suggestions?

Welcome to Android Central! Are you using earphones that don't have a mic or remote control buttons? See if one of those kinds of very basic earphones works. Also, use a can of compressed air to blow out the jack to make sure it's clear of debris.

Also, have you tried these earphones in another device to make sure they are working OK?
