Phone Status: Custom

Just got the Edge with Verizon. Under About Phone and Status it shows my phone status as "custom." My wife's S7 shows "official." I haven't done anything with the software except install the updates released today. I did enable the Developers Option but haven't changed anything under it.

Anybody have any idea why it would say that?

Mine is Sprint, but I enabled Developer Options and it still shows as official, so I don't think that's the reason.

You should give your phone to a developer. What if you have a 1:1,000,000 phone?

Haha if that was the case I wouldn't be "giving" it away. Has to be a price tag for a one in a million phone.

I'm on VZW with developer options checked and it says I'm official.

I just noticed it says "custom" when I reboot it as well.

I am beginning to wonder if I somehow got a used phone from Verizon.

Don't matter why. Take it back to Verizon. You will probably have problems down the road

Have any of you that have the custom status rooted your phones? My Note 5 says custom but that's because it's rooted.

Both of my S7 Edge phones say official which are not rooted.
