I have a warning that phone storage is low. I have cleared all the caches manually but it is still only showing 15Mb.

I have Android 2.2 on My HTC desire and need to know how to clear out more space. I have an 8GB SD card where I store all the apps I can and My pictures and any music I want to minimise impact on the phone.

go to settings-applications-manage applications and move as many of them over to sd card. thats all I know...for now...:D

Moving apps to the sd on a stock Froyo, will only free up a minimal amount of internal memory. Reason being, with stock, only a partial amount is moved to sd, if it can be moved at all.

Best bet, is to root the device, and use something like apps2sd.

Best thing I ever did was do hard reset with empty memory card. The card that came with the phone is loaded with stuff from my telco, by using an empty card I found I had about 120 odd mb available, and while that has slowly decreased due to app fragmenting (not fully deleting, leaving files behind) I still have 25mb and haven't seen the dreaded full memory warning since.

My Sister has an Altel HTC Desire and it only has android 2.1. Is there a way to get a newer version on it so she doesnt have the same issue of low memory? I Still do not have an android device myself so I am completely new to them and hear terms like root etc all the time. Would prefer to keep it htc sense style because that is what she is used to. Is is possible to get 2.3 or even 2.2 on it?

Go to settings> about phone> system software updates> check now. There is only 2.2 for desire with 2.3 coming by the end of july.

I guess alltel has not updated it yet. Still not shoing updates available on her phone so she is stuck with 2.1
