Phone stuck on htc boot screen

My htc one sv is stuck on the boot sequence. It shows the htc one screen then beeps as it should, then off it goes and it tries again and again. No dice.

I have tried removing the battery and running recovery, but no joy.

the phone was purchased in the UK, as an unlocked device and has since been used with Optus (australia SIM).

is there a way to recover the system without a factory reset?

any help will be greatly appreciated.

Welcome to Android Central! I don't think you can do anything short of a factory reset--and that might not work either, if it's a hardware issue.
