I'm upgrading two Galaxy S7 to Pixel 3 (mine and wife's). I did mine first while my wife was at work and my text messages did not transfer. When I did my wife's hers did transfer over.
Is there a way to attempt to transfer just the text messages without doing a reset and going through the whole process again?

Use SMS Backup & Restore to back up on the S7, ans restore to the Pixel.

Thanks, that's what I am trying to do now. I contacted Google support and was basically told it was hit or miss for the SMS to xfer using the phone switch app and suggested I use a third party app.

I just happened to pick the one you linked to (except I paid for the full version). I did a backup on the S7 to Google Drive. I also attempted to do the transfer option within the app which would not connect. So I did a restore on the P3. I can view the messages and attachments via the SMS B&R app (very slow to view btw). I went through the restore option but it is not actually loading the messages with the Messaging app.

Don't know why. I am trying for a second time now.

Edit to add:
I did a phone restart & left the messages app open as suggested within the SMS B&R app.

It worked that time. Without a reboot. It even merged the the conversations I had started on the P3 with the original.

Thanks

Glad it all worked out for you. I've used it a few times, and it worked every time. (Although, for me it's just as easy reading the xml file as it is to read the texts using the texting app. [I spent years doing data conversions of various types (many were of the "we have no idea what this data format is" type), so reading xml, JSON and other data formats is part of my "multi-lingualism"].)
