Phone thinks there is a voice recording in progress - Wear Audio Recorder

I recently installed Wear Audio Recorder, opened it and made one recording as a test. Shortly after that, my battery level dropped and I went to put the phone in extreme power saving move. I go a message saying "you are currently recording voice and will be unable to stop while in extreme power mode." I opened the app but didn't see a recording in progress. I restarted the phone, but the same thing happened again. I uninstalled the app, but the issue persists. And batter life declines extremely fast. I get a similar message when I try to record a video: "another app is recording audio and it is stopped now."

Any advice will be appreciated.

Android version - 5.0.2
HTC Sense version - 7.0

When you have your phone set to recognize "OK Google", it is a another app using (not really recording) audio....
