Question Voice recorder app stops recording when screen is locked. Where is the problem ?

Hi!

So, to explain the problem:

1. I open the app and push the red button to start recording.
2. I lock the screen.
3. I wait several seconds (not sure if is important).
4. I talk.
5. I unlock the screen.

My voice is not recorded at step 4.

I must menstion that:

1. The Voice recorder app reacts as there is no problem. I mean, if I unlock the screen after 5 minutes, the app shows me that I have recorded 5 minutes. Yes, I might be, but since I can't listen my voice, then something is wrong...

2. The app is working normaly while the screen is unlocked.

3. I have instaled other similar apps and the problem exists in all those apps.

It may have to do with Moto's aggressive RAM management. Some manufacturers (especially Chinese ones) focus on battery life to a fault, and to that end will often design their firmware to kill apps in the background aggressively. This can include apps that you're trying to use when the screen is locked or the phone is otherwise idle. You can look through the system settings for anything that has to do with RAM/memory management, but sometimes there's nothing the user can do to make this less aggressive.

Another thing you can try is to open the voice recorder app, then go to your App Overview/Recent Apps. On the window that shows the voice recorder, see if there's a pin icon or something similar that might flag it as something you don't want killed in the background.

I already looked for all kind of settings which might disable the app and I see no setting as "the problem".

So, I have no solution. While the screen is locked, I have no way to record.

That sounds quite strange...

When you say that you lock the screen, do you mean that you're actually tapping a Lock Screen option in the Quick Settings panel? Or do you have the Power button set to automatically lock the screen when you press it to turn the screen off?

If so, what happens if you start a recording while the screen is on, then let the screen time out by itself. Does the recording stop as soon as the screen times out?

You mentioned that you tried other similar apps and they did the same thing, plus you mentioned that they work fine when the screens on. That says that it's a phone issue. Try what B. Diddy suggested, let your screen time out normally and see what happens. The problem is most likely a permissions setting somewhere that involves the lock screen.

Also try looking under your lock screen settings to see what's there, sometimes you have to give certain permissions for things to show/play when the screen is locked for security reasons
