I've tested this out a couple times. The phone always dies when there is 70% battery life left and then i will turn it back on and it says 1% and "plug into charger." so when i plug it in, i only leave it in for about 5 minutes. after 5 minutes i take it off and the phone reads 75% battery life, which is impossbile. and then shuts down when it gets to 70% again. i dont know why its happening. any explanations?

If you installed a task killer, start by uninstalling that first. Actually just list them here and I'll tell you which ones I would suspect.

mehhhh.... i just restored my phone to factory settings. i didnt really care about my apps, so i could just start fresh. thanks for the help though!!

Ditch all the apps that automatically sync (weather, social networking, etc). If that doesn't work, try re-calibrating your battery. There are tons of tutorials on how to do it.

That is good advice as well.

I only bring up the task killer because it's one of the first things people download and it's also one of the biggest sources of problems too, if not configured properly. Those things start killing tasks they shouldn't be and cause all sorts of issues.

Broke college student in need of ramen eh? Man those were the days. Fridge stuffed with beer and a pantry filled with ramen noodles.

hahahaha i just noticed the ramen thing. and thanks for the help guys! i'll keep in mind that task killers are no good haha. would you recommend a good task manager that causes the least amount of problems for me? it would be greatly appreciated :) i also had it set to kill every app when the phone was woken up from standby. could that be a problem?

I was in a Verizon store today and listened in on the sales rep tell a woman the most backwards information about task killers and Android I have ever heard. I couldn't help but chime in and inform the both of them that Android is not Windows XP and you do not need to "kill" any apps. Then I started opening my apps (on my triumph) from A-Z. Once I reached M, I showed them the apps that were actually still open and the rep almost lost his composure. Very unfortunate that this information is being spread to the unknowing masses.

Yeeeaaaaaaa, Ramen and PBR is pretty much all I have in my "kitchen". That's what I get for going to school for molecular biology.

i just re-formated my phone and my phone still shuts off at 70% battery. what the hell is wrong with it!? is it the battery itself!?

Awesome... its sad when I wanna talk mobile and I drop into a T-Mobile or Verizon (or att and sprint for that matter) and they have no idea what they r talking about. The most famous is always telling ppl that the phone will get a GB update shortly... I feel like if I sold phones I would definitely mind my P's and Q's. I go trying to talk to someone with knowledge and end up seeming like an overinterested nuisance that thinks they know everything. No. I just use Google and I occasionally check engadget or android central. Not much work... freaking sales people
