My S8 has been acting funny today. On multiple occasions it has just stopped responding. I'll get a black screen that doesn't come on when I press the home button area nor the power key. After maybe 10-15 seconds of trying these options, my camera will turn on and everything will work as usual. Is anyone else experiencing this?

No. That is not normal behavior. Did you recently install any apps or get any app updates? Do a soft reset. If you still have the same issue, then a hard reset may be in order. *Note* A hard reset will erase the phone, so do that as a LAST resort.

Here are the instructions for both a soft reset and hard reset:

How about clearing the System Cache first which does not delete personal info.

And or try Safe Mode.

Safe Mode.

1. Turn the device off.
2. Press and hold the Power key past the model name screen.
3. When "SAMSUNG" appears on the screen, release the Power key.
4. Immediately after releasing the Power key, press and hold the Volume down key.
5. Continue to hold the Volume down key until the device finishes restarting.
6. Safe mode will display in the bottom left corner of the screen.
7. Release the Volume down key when you see Safe Mode.
8. Uninstall apps that are causing a problem.
*Turn off safe mode
1. Press and hold the Power key.
2. Tap Restart.

How long have you had your phone, and is it under warranty or insurance? If a soft and hard reset do not work, I recommend returning it and getting a new device.
