Phone upgrade question

I have 3 smart phones and a dumb phone . Looking to upgrade my main line but don't want to loose my unlimited data. Can I transfer the up grade from the dumb phone to one of the others not the main then put it on the main in a day or two and keep the unlimited on the main line.

I know for AT&T as long as you had unlimited data before 2004 you have the option to keep it or not I don't know for Verizon sorry.
