Samsung Gal S8+ running Android 9. Bluetooth problem. I can connect devices to my phone like a bluetooth speaker successfully. But I can not connect to my computer or Echo. There was supposed to be a "Phone Visibility" button that I could slide on to let others connect to my phone. It wasn't there. Read a post somewhere that downloading "Smarthings" by Samsung would put it back. I did that and its now there, however when I turn it on the phone is still not showing up while performing a scan for devices. I have attempted discovery from multiple devices. Echo needs to connect to the phone (to play music or whatever) not the other way around.

Thanks

It sounds like you've already done some researching of your own. In your post you don't mention the steps I found in the guide to connect a phone to an Echo Dot.

Have you asked Alexa to Pair?

In this guide it says to simply turn on Bluetooth on the device, say Alexa Pair, then in the list of available Bluetooth devices on your phone you should be able to find Alexa. That list is located Settings>Connections>touch the word Bluetooth>Alexa should appear in the list of Available Devices in the lower part of that screen.

You can read the article in this link... https://www.the-ambient.com/how-to/connect-alexa-echo-bluetooth-phone-speaker-531

From the way it reads it's the Echo that has to be in discovery mode not the device. Depending on the symbiosis of the connection dictates which device needs to be discoverable. In this case it seems more natural that it would be your phone discovering the Echo.

Hi Welcome to the forums. Have you tried pairing the phone with your computer using the Windows settings, devices, Bluetooth option?

I found that I had to pair my computer with my phone and not the other way round as it required a PIN and only the computer generated the PIN to connect not my phone. I managed to connect my S10+ to my computer this morning doing it this way.
