Phone wakes up on contacts app not home screen, why?

Phone wakes up on contacts app not home screen

I have a Motorola G which I upgraded to Lollipop a few days ago - most things seem to work ok so far but one thing annoys me - when I put my pin in , phone opens on my contacts screen not home screen . can I change that so it opens on home screen?

Welcome to Android Central! Are you swiping up initially, or in from the left? If you swipe left to right, that typically opens directly to the Phone app.
