I'm currently in need of a new phone however do not want to go back to Iphone. I really want a decent camera & have been really keen on a Pixel 4a however I am concerned in regards to listening to downloaded music on a Pixel 4a. I uploaded all my purchased music onto Youtube Music onto my current Neffos phone but it buffers constantly. If I purchase the Pixel, can I just use another music app instead or am I better off looking for another brand phone with a decent camera? Just to clarify, I would like to listen to music offline & as I'm already buffering music offline with Youtube music that is my concern.

What do you mean by "good camera?"

If you just want point and shoot with all the software automation, then either Pixel or Samsung Galaxy/Notes seem to be neck and neck (though sounds like Pixel is currently at the top).

If you want something for manual mode, then the LG V-series gives you about the best manual controls (even manual audio control for videos). Their latest V60 was getting a lot of praise for auto mode as well, with some calling it the Note 20 killer in part due to the camera.

For the offline music concern, do you have those songs saved as mp3's? If so, the default music player should be fine. If you don't have one, Power Amp is highly recommended, but is a paid app. There are free ones out there but my phones always had a stock music player.

Thanks. I was happy with what the camera offer is on the Pixel but my concern is that now Google Play is no longer & you have to use Youtube music to listed to your own music then I don't want to pay £350 & not be able to listen to music properly as one used to be able to with Google Play. I am in fact looking at the Samsung A71 which appears to have a decent camera & I'm sure a decent a music player.

You should be able to download your own uploads and listen to them offline even if you're not a YouTube Premium subscriber: https://support.google.com/youtubemusic/answer/9716522?hl=en

"You can play uploaded songs in the background, ad-free and offline - even if you are not currently a YouTube Music Premium subscriber."

So give that a try before you make a final decision. The Pixel 4a line has 128 GB of storage, so unless you have a huge music library and also install tons of apps or keep lots of other data on your phone, it should be plenty of space.

The YouTube Music playback issue is most likely an isolated issue. I've had no trouble with it buffering downloaded music on any device I've used it on, most of which are several years old. What specific device are you using? Did you tell the app to download the tracks before trying to listen to them? (That said, I do think YouTube Music is garbage compared to Google Play Music)
