Phone wont charge

I have a galaxy S6, it was working perfectly fine up until 2 days. The battery ran out and when I put the charger in it comes up with the battery icon with the lightning bolt in it then it just cuts out and doesn't charge. If I unplug the charger then plug it back in the same thing happens

Can you try another charger or cable. Could be a bad charging port or battery.

tried a different charger and cable, same thing happens. if it was either of those why would it pop up saying charging then go back off I could plug the charger 100 times and each time the same thing would happen, so could that rule out the charger port?

Try wireless charging and see if that gets it going. You might have a port that has gone bad on your device and will no longer take charge through the micro usb port.
