I've recently acquired a Gigaset GS4, which overall I'm very pleased with, but am a bit mystified by charging issues. The phone should be able to fast charge up to 18w, or wirelessly up to 15w, but having tried numerous quality cables, different chargers, including two Qualcom 3.0 examples, both wired and wireless, but whatever I do the charging current never goes beyond 1.2 amps, nowhere near the two or even 3 amps it should hit. Am I missing something?

Thanks

Welcome to Android Central! The official specs say that the USB port is actually only USB 2.0, even though it's USB-C. USB 2.0 has a maximum voltage of 5V, so even though it has a USB-C connector, it wouldn't be able to fast charge. So either they listed the specs wrong, the company isn't being honest, or they're not quite clear on what is needed for fast charging.

It doesn't say what version number of Mediatek Pump Express it uses, but it does say 18W. The latest version of Pump Express (4.0) is intercompatible with USB PD 3.0, so try an 18W or higher PD charger that has at the very least 5V/3A and 9V/2A modes.
