Phone won't play media through bluetooth

I have a Samsung S7, and purchased a car bluetooth device(https://www.amazon.ca/gp/product/B01NAT2U02/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o01_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1)

What is happening is it will connect, use the car speakers for about 1 minute, then go back to using the phone as the speaker source. The bluetooth is still connected as I can use the media controls on the bluetooth device and it works, just not the speakers. It will randomly start to use the car speakers again after 5-10 minutes of being connected. No idea why it is happening or how to resolve the issue, but it is very annoying. Hopefully someone will have an idea

Welcome to Android Central! When it's not going through the speakers, go to Settings>Bluetooth, and tap the gear icon next to the car stereo. Are the Phone Audio and Media Audio checkboxes still checked on?
